One in 8 women will develop invasive breast cancer in her lifetime.

Early detection is the best way to protect against breast cancer.

That’s why at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital we are transforming breast cancer screening and detection with the latest technology in 3D Mammography and a focus on your comfort. Our goal is to make breast health as easy as 1, 2, 3.

Instead of reviewing the breast tissue in a single, flat image, this tool folds together a series of images to create a 3D view, allowing doctors to see the tiniest details and find cancer in its earliest stages.

Mammogram Screening Guidelines:

It is recommended that women age 40 and older have a screening mammogram every year. Screening mammography offers the best chance of finding breast cancer early. Finding breast cancer early means more treatment options and a better chance for a cure.

Recommendation guidelines may change depending on personal and family risk factors which should be discussed with your medical provider.

Transforming the Mammography Patient Experience:

Introducing the SmartCurve™ Breast Stabilization System

Clinically Proven to Deliver a More Comfortable Mammogram Compared to Standard Compression.

The SmartCurve™ system is available on both the Hologic 3D and 2D mammography systems used by HSHS St Anthony’s Mammography Services.

With pain being the number one complaint during mammograms, this fear of pain prevents many women from making regular breast imaging appointments a priority. By avoiding scheduling a mammogram, this puts women at risk of cancer being missed, or diagnosed at a more advanced stage.

With improved comfort, the SmartCurve™ system was designed to address this challenge and provide a better experience for women during their mammograms.

Women’s Wellness Center

A State-of-the-Art Home for All of Your Needs

HSHS St. Anthony’s Women’s Wellness Center combines the security of exceptional care with the comfort of caring individuals. We provide care to women from prevention, screening, and diagnosis to treatment and follow-up care in a consistent, compassionate and timely manner.

3D Mammograms

At our innovative and redesigned Women’s Wellness Center, we offer 3D mammography, which allows the radiologist to examine the breast tissue layer by layer. Instead of viewing all the complexities of breast tissue in a flat image (as with traditional 2D mammography), fine details are more visible and no longer hidden by the tissue above or below.

Breast Biopsies

If a suspicious area is detected through mammography or ultrasound testing, a biopsy might need to be conducted, where a sample of cells or tissue is collected from the suspicious area for examination under a microscope by a pathologist. We offer the latest technology in the biopsy systems, including stereotactic and ultrasound-guided biopsies, which allow us to take images of the specimens during the time of the procedure which makes for a more accurate and shorter procedure.

Bone Density Exams

Bone densitometry is an enhanced form of x-ray technology that is used to measure bone loss. This physician-ordered exam, performed in our Dexa Scan room,  is used to assess if you are at risk for osteopenia or osteoporosis. A bone densitometry test can also assess your risk for developing fractures.

Nurse Navigator

Our Women’s Wellness Nurse Navigator assists patients through diagnosis and education to help them make informed decisions about their breast care. The Nurse Navigator is there to provide education and emotional support.

Breast Care/Breastfeeding Boutique

After a breast cancer diagnosis, St. Anthony’s Women’s Wellness Center offers a full line of Amoena Mastectomy and Lumpectomy products to meet every woman’s needs.  We offer pre-surgical and post-surgical bras and prosthetic forms, as well as other products upon request. Certified mastectomy fitters are available on-site to ensure that women obtain an appropriate and comfortable fit.

To help give every baby and mom the healthiest start possible, St. Anthony’s Women’s Wellness is also here to offer support and education to moms and babies throughout their breastfeeding journey. We offer Certified Lactation Consultants to help any breastfeeding mothers who have questions or concerns.

We look forward to talking with you.
